Things You Should Do To Keep Your Chandelier Clean
There are several important things that you should do to keep your chandelier lighting in good shape. If you keep your light well maintained then it will last for years, and it will keep your room well lit. After all, the whole point of a chandelier is to light a room in an elegant way, so the last thing that you want is to have it covered in dust or worse still with half the bulbs blown.
What you want to do to look after your chandelier is make sure that you stick to a regular cleaning schedule. To make sure that you stick to this I would suggest that you put notes to yourself in your diary so that you don’t forget.
Weekly Clean
You want to spend just a couple of minutes a week giving the chandelier a quick dust. This doesn’t need to be a thorough clean, just remove the top layer of dust. To do this, just use a feather duster and lightly go over the whole chandelier. It’s always worth doing this first when you clean a room as the dust will fall from the height of the chandelier and cover everything else in the room.
Quarterly Clean
This is when you want to clean the chandelier a bit deeper. To do this, you want to turn of the electricity to the light (just to be safe) and go over each bit of the chandelier with a damp, not too wet, cloth. Lint free is best as it they can get a bit static and cling to the thread. You may at this point also want to give it a bit of a sparkle with some glass cleaner.
Yearly Check
Once a year it is worth cleaning all the bulb contacts just by running a dry cloth over them (of course with the electricity turned off at the fuse board). This will prevent any build up of rust that could cause long term damage to your light.
If you follow these chandelier maintenance tips you will have the best chandelier lighting around.
